Welcome to James Cousins our new SHEQ manager

24 July 2024

(that’s Health and Safety to us!)

Originally hailing from North London, James has followed many of his family to the flat fenlands of Murrow where he has now begun the task of managing the Health and Safety of the Murrow Anaerobic Digestion plant. A huge challenge for many, but James seems keen to make his mark within the business.

Though a newbie to renewable energy, James has got a lot of experience of dealing with high pressured and technical-led scenarios having been active in the RAF as a Flight Operations Controller working within the UK and internally for over nine years, often spending large portions of time out of the country, he decided to leave the forces in 2014 to be in the UK for his young family and to put his skills to good use in the local area.

Anaerobic Digestion is less about fighter jets and private jets (another interesting experience of James’), but the complexity of the AD site can prove to be just as challenging. Since leaving the RAF, James has steadily invested more of his energy into Health and Safety and has found the process of becoming IOSH and NEBOSH qualified a fascinating and rewarding experience and he hopes to continue that growth now he has joined the Adapt team.

Adding the renewable energy aspect into the mix is of real interest to James, and has in recent years added more environmentally focused qualifications to his CV which has made the move to Adapt even more the path he wanted to choose.

James said: “On appointment, I could already see some quick wins that I could get my teeth into, and I am looking forward to seeing how the role develops.

The team at Adapt (and the wider AD community) has been very welcoming and I am very much looking forward to seeing what the future of health and safety in renewable energy holds for me, watch this space!”.

James is based at our Somerset Farm AD plant in Murrow, Cambridgeshire and will Adapt Biogas’s point of contact for any Health and Safety questions.

Welcome onboard!
